Why choose organic hemp clothing

Hemp requires considerably less water to grow than cotton. It grows densely, which suppresses weeds naturally and reduces the need for herbicides. And because hemp garments last, the most meaningful environmental gain is simply that you buy fewer of them.
How organic hemp clothing is made
Hemp is grown in dense plots that naturally inhibit weed growth. After harvest, the fibre is separated through retting, which softens it and makes it workable. The fibre is then spun into yarn and woven or knitted into fabric. The process is minimal, which is part of why the finished cloth retains the fibre's natural strength and breathability.
Durability and comfort
Hemp fibre is notably strong and resistant to wear. That strength doesn't come at the cost of comfort — the fabric softens with each wash, so garments become more comfortable the longer you own them. It also blends well with other fibres. At The House of Hemp we pair hemp with TENCEL™ Lyocell and organic cotton, which gives us structure where a garment needs it and drape where it doesn't.
Styling it
Hemp's natural texture and drape give it a distinct look — it works in relaxed everyday pieces and in more structured, occasion-ready silhouettes. It takes hand embroidery beautifully, which is why our festive pieces are built on it.

Wash gently with a mild detergent. Air dry to maintain shape and strength. Avoid harsh chemicals. That's it — hemp is low-maintenance by nature.
